Year 5

Welcome to Year 5

Teachers - Miss Bailey and Mrs Evans

Teaching Assistants - Mrs Heckles and Mrs Connelly

This year our English lessons will be based on a book.  These will be:-

Children are expected to read everyday and need to read to a parent regularly (please inform the class teacher via Class Dojo each time your child has read. )  Children can choose to read using Reading Plus instead of their school reading book but parents must still inform the class teacher.

Homework - this will be given on a Friday and needs to be handed in by Thursday and will include spellings and maths. Homework where possible, will be set and completed via an app/website called Seesaw.  Children will be given their own individual log in and given support on how to access and use the site. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance.

Swimming

Please note that there is no confirmed date of when swimming will recommence.

Whilst in Year 5, children are given the opportunity to go swimming. Swimming days for each class are:

  • Class 11 (Miss Bailey) - Tuesday morning (Autumn 1, Spring 1, Summer 1)
  • Class 12 (Mrs Evans) - Tuesday morning (Autumn 2, Spring 2, Summer 2)

Please make sure your child has their swimming costume/trunks (no baggy shorts), cap and towel. Children must ensure that their earrings are removed prior to swimming.

P.E.

P.E. kit is black shorts/skort, red t-shirt, black plimsolls for indoor and trainers for outdoor (these can simply be brought into school on PE day).

Class 11 (Miss Bailey) - Friday  AM

Class 12 (Mrs Evans) - Tuesday AM

Due to the current situation, children need to come into school wearing their school PE kit. They are able to wear a pair of tracksuit bottoms or leggings over their shorts for warmth. Children will remain in their PE kit all day.
