Welcome to Year 4
Teachers: Mrs Atherton and Mrs Allinson
Teaching Assistants: Miss Jones, Mrs Allsopp and Mrs McNamara
From time to time, we may contact you via Class Dojo. You are welcome to contact class teachers on this also.
Throughout the year we will be covering many topics, for example:
- St Hilda's links to Hartlepool - Volcanoes and Earthquakes - Sound
- The Roman invasion of Britain - Water Cycle - States of matter
- The Anglo-Saxons and the Scots - Climates around the world - Animals (including humans)
- Electricity
We will also be basing much of our English work around books we will read as a class:
Homework
Children are expected to read every day to an adult and a comment is needed by a parent on class dojo, at least three times per week.
Homework will include; weekly spellings to be tested on a Thursday and a maths activity linked to the children's work during the week.
Swimming
Due to Covid-19 there will currently be no swimming. We will updated you of any changes as soon as swimming becomes available.
P.E
Children will have two, one hour P.E lessons every week. Children will learn various skills and take part in dances, gymnastic routines and games. They need black P.E shorts, a red t-shirt and trainers and are to come to school wearing these on their allocated PE day. On cooler days, the children may wear suitable clothing eg black leggings/ tracksuit. The children will then stay in their PE kits for the rest of the day. There will be no PE during the first three days of term. By Friday, your child will be informed which days they will be having PE. Children must ensure that their earrings are removed and long hair tied back prior to P.E.
