Maths

We are now following the White Rose Scheme for maths which will soon run in conjunction with BBC Bitesize. Although it is our first week back, we will begin with week 2 so that we are working alongside BBC Bitesize (this week they will look different to one another but from next week they are working collaboratively). There are videos available for each lesson, as well as worksheets.

Please continue to work on multiplication and division facts too.

Listen to the story - Mr Wolf’s pancakes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_VosU2oLgY

Ask children how they know it’s fiction and discuss difference between non-fiction (true facts) and fiction (story or fairy tale). Explain that the story uses aspects from many different fairy tales. Remind them of the stories we’ve recently read in school – Jim and the Beanstalk, The true story of The Three Little Pigs.

This week your job is to write your own story based on a traditional tale.

Mon – Decide on a traditional tale you would like to retell. Talk about what will stay the same and what will change.

Tues – Write the introduction describing the main characters and setting the scene. Try to paint a picture in the reader’s mind of the setting. Use an online thesaurus to include exciting adjectives. Check you have used capital letters to begin sentences and for names.

Wed – Write the build-up and problem to the story. Check that you have used full stops correctly.

Thur – Write the ending to the story. Is it happy or sad?

Fri – Edit your work carefully. Can you choose any different words if some of yours aren’t exciting enough? Have you used full stops correctly? Could you include more adjectives? Do you want to read your story and send it to me? Please let me know if I can share it with your friends. You could draw a picture to go with it.

RE

The RE topic for the next 4 weeks is ‘Spread the word’ Read the story of Snowy together and talk about passing on messages.

Talk about how messages can be passed on and why it was important to let people know that Snowy was found.

Read Luke 24 v 1-9

(up to 1 min 57 sec)

How do you think the women were feeling?

What was the message the men gave to the women?

What had Jesus told them to remember?

How do you think the eleven disciples felt when they heard the news from the women?

Science - Habitats

Our topic is habitats and we will introduce more work on this over the coming weeks. However, there is a live broadcast about microhabitats on Thursday. There is no need to register as live broadcasts can be seen by anyone. It is aimed at KS2 so may be a little challenging.
