Message from Fr Michael - Lockdown 2021
Statement for Holy Family RC Parish Hartlepool
In view of the latest lockdown and Government advice to stay at home, I have consulted at a Diocesan level and with a representative of the NHS and wish to confirm that St Joseph’s church remains open for public worship in accordance with the exception given to places of public worship during this present lockdown. We repeat the government directive to stay at home but also that going to church is a necessary exemption to this rule and that St Joseph’s church will remain open unless there is a government directive to close. St Mary’s church on the Headland and St Patrick’s church, Owton Manor will close for all public and private worship until further notice. We have reviewed the arrangements at St Joseph’s to make sure that they are within the guidelines and remind people that they must wear their mask in church, to keep a safe distance and not to mingle at the back of church or in the church grounds. If you are in self-isolation or vulnerable or shielding categories, then you should follow the government directives and stay at home. We remind you once again that Sunday obligation is suspended and that you should only come to church if you feel safe and secure. We will continue with our phone service for prayer and reflection and masses will be live streamed as usual.
