Welcome to Sacred Heart Nursery

Sacred Heart has a 78 place Nursery.

We operate 4 different sessions...

Morning - 8.30am - 11.30am

Afternoon- 12.15pm - 3.15pm

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday.

Each child is entitled to 15 hours per week.

The Nursery is equipped with an outdoor area, a large indoor playroom, quiet room and café area. Activities in the Nursery are play-based and are carefully planned to allow the children to learn at their own pace in a fun and active way.

As a school family, in partnership with parents, we aim to provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment, where each child is valued as a unique individual.

The staff visit the children's home before starting Nursery. The aim of our visit is to make the transition into Nursery as stress free as possible for both the child and their parents/carers. By the time children commence attendance at a Nursery School, they have already had a variety of experiences and have developed in a number of ways. In order to utilise and build upon the learning that has taken place in the home and its immediate environment, we aim to provide our children with a rich variety of play activities and other experiences in a stimulating and challenging environment. We will focus on allowing our children to learn, at their own pace.

Our aim is to...

  • provide a safe and caring environment in which our children can develop respect for themselves and others, confidence, a positive self-image and a sense of responsibility.
  • encourage the children to become more independent.
  • develop and build on the children’s interest in the world around them.

  • provide experiences that meet our children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs at their particular stage of learning.

  • provide opportunities to discover that learning is fun through a range of different experiences.

  • provide appropriate support for children with special educational needs.

  • develop and maintain a close partnership with parents.

  • value our children as individuals and promote their uniqueness.
